Facial and Dental Trauma Service Roles

Plastics (UCSF)                        Pediatric Dentistry (La Clinica)

1. Extraoral lacerations beyond the lips, vermillion border lacerations
2. Tongue lacerations requiring sutures
3. Intra and extra oral lacerations requiring OR 
4. Gross alveolar fractures of maxilla (extend beyond the alveolus to non-tooth bearing segments)ll facial fractures including orbital, malar complex, NOE, Lefort I,II,II, etc.
5. All mandibular fractures including body, condylar and TMJ. etc.
6. Any trauma to the TMJ
7. Trauma extending into the orbit
8. Placement of arch bars/wires due to mandibular or maxillary fractures
9. Facial cellulitis requiring incision and drainage
1. Tooth avulsion 
2. Reimplanting teeth 
3. Splinting teeth 
4. Lip lacerations not extending past the vermillion border onto the face 
5. Intraoral lacerations to the soft tissue 
6. Minor maxillary alveolar fracture (fractures that involve the dentition that do not extend beyond the alveolus to non-tooth bearing segments). Minor fractures such as single tooth luxation. 
7. Trauma to teeth (intrusion, extrusion, concussion, etc.) 
8. Tooth pain 
9. Fractured teeth with or without pulp exposure 
10. Intraoral/extraoral abscess not requiring incision and drainage
11. Care regarding wisdom teeth/removal of wisdom teeth 
12. Phone consultation regarding any anticipatory guidance
13. Bracket removal for inpatients necessitating MRI
