OAK: Behavioral Health Assessments

If BERT coverage gap exceeds 24 hours, and patient meets the following criteria: ≥ 12 years old, resides in Alameda County 

1. Follow above workflow
2. Obtain labs during initial medical assessment: CBC, CMP, COVID, and, if indicated, urine toxicology and urine pregnancy screening
3. After patient has been medically cleared, indicate as such in the medical chart
4. Fax face sheet with insurance and address of patient to Alameda CSU
   1. Fax: 510-483-2329
   2. Confirm receipt: 510-219-0598
5. Arrange transport to CSU once accepted
6. No "hold" is required for transport to CSU

Patients not meeting eligibility criteria should remain in the ED.  Ongoing support can be obtained by consulting Psychiatry on call.
